Fireworks Ban Reminder

Residents are reminded that the sale, possession and use of fireworks is NOT permitted in the City of Pitt Meadows. Furthermore, firecrackers of all types are illegal in Canada.  Possession at any time is an offense.  Roadways and parks are not permitted to be used for fireworks and no residential lot has the required clearances for any fireworks display.  The only permitted fireworks displays are public displays as detailed below.

All public fireworks displays must be performed under permit issued by Pitt Meadows Fire & Rescue Service, with at least one operator possessing a valid Fireworks Supervisor’s Certificate issued by Natural Resources Canada, Explosives Regulatory Division.  A valid General Comprehensive Liability Insurance policy is required in the amount of not less than Five Million ($5,000,000) Dollars with the City of Pitt Meadows listed as an additional named assured.  A site plan showing 60m of clearance from the nearest permanent building, public highway or railway or other means of travel and 15m from nearest above ground telephone line, tree or obstruction; along with a list of safety measures in place for the event, are also required by the Fire Department.  Click on the attached link for complete copy of The City of Pitt Meadows Fireworks and Pyrotechnics Bylaw 2673
