Backyard Burns Restricted Across Coastal Fire Centre

Please see this Fire Ban Press Release provided by the Ministry of Forests and Range concerning burning regulations.  For more information on this update please visit www.bcwildfire.ca  Please note that the City of Pitt Meadows restricts all fires at this time and supersedes any provincial ban.  For a full copy of the City Bylaw please see the link below to the Burning Regulation Bylaw No. 2406.

Fire Prevention Week and Fire Rescue Service Open House

Please join us on Saturday, October 2nd from noon to 3:00pm at the Fire Hall located at 19240 122A Ave.  We will have displays from local emergency personnel as well as free hot dogs and other refreshments.  Tim Horton's will be on site to hand out free Tim-bits and coffee.  There will be a kid's fun station and elementary aged children including one boy and one girl can enter a free draw to become Chief for a Day!

Fire Prevention Week 2010


The Great British Columbia Shake Out

On January 26th at 10:26am, 2011 the Province of British Columbia will be conducting an earthquake exercise.  This event is being organized by the Provincial Emergency Program for British Columbia and the British Columbia Earthquake Alliance.  Participants will be asked to partake in a "drop, cover and hold on" to learn how to protect yourself during an earthquake.  This program is tailored to business owners and schools.  Please view the website for more up to date information at shakeoutbc


New BC Fire Code Changes

Effective May 1st there will be new changes to the BC Fire Code that affect houses built before 1979.  These homes will now need to have a smoke alarm installed.  


Safety Tips

A good of rule of thumb is to change the batteries in your smoke detector when you change your clock, twice a year.  An easy reminder and it could save your life!
